Weekly read

This week I am "reading" Amy Tan-The Bonesetters Daughter and Half Life by Roopa Farooki.  Reading the Bonesetters Daughter on my Kindle and have Half Life as a talking book.

The Bonesetters Daughter is set across different continents and travels different time spans as well. Delving into forgotten memories, letters and memoirs it has taken me back as the reader on a similar journey  of discovery. Very engaging and emotive.  Highly recommended.

Just started the Farooki book and liking it so far, deals with the break up of a relationship and another journey of discovery.

Read write and ramble

RSI

Textspeak, twitter and twaddle

As part of my weekly ramble I'm going to clamber on my soapbox and let loose.  This week, month year as a frequent observer and commentator of what's happening in my universe I feel I need to comment on English and what's going on with the "kids" and adults out there.

English evolves as does everything but recently with technology it has moved on at an exponential-big word-rate !  Mobile phones and free texting  has lead us to abbreviated textspeak, lol replacing laughter as "genuine " noise and general muteness and lack of conversation around the globe.

RSI amongst teenagers is a new phenomena and is on the increase-caused in part through texting, I'm not against texting per se but I am against texting replacing normal communication.  Where is it going to lead us?

Constant communication of nothing, empty vacuous drip, drip, drips of odd snippets of words, letters smiley icons, emoticons are dragging me down.

Once vented, perhaps an attempt at some kind of English as cobbled together by moi in the form of a book review.

Drowning not waving!
